In August 2014, TransCanada was getting ready to file their final proposal for the largest tar sands pipeline ever planned, the Energy East project.
To promote this scheme, they held “Open Houses” in eight Ontario towns along the pipeline route, including one in our backyard — Kenora, Ontario. Local organizers in Kenora hosted a rally outide TransCanada’s Open House on August 12 to show that Energy East is too much risk to the water, land and climate and tell TransCanada their pipeline isn’t welcome in Kenora.
Groups and individuals came from Winnipeg, Kenora, Roseau River, Shoal Lake, and Grassy Narrows and told TransCanada “No Pipelines, No Dirty Oil in Kenora!”
